Laravel-5 REST API and CORS

Have been building a REST API using Laravel 5 as the backend and Backbone as Frontend. One thing that made me stuck is to get the CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) working right. I couldn’t find a clear way to achieve this. I did my research and came to some conclusions. While it’s not so hard to implement CORS, finding the ways to implement it may be hard, atleast for me. I will try to explain how I achieved CORS support in my Laravel application…

Etherpad Lite & MongoDB

By default Etherpad support dirty, postgres, sqlite and mysql databases. But it can also be configured to use with MongoDB with a little hack. Thanks to UeberDB, the database abstraction layer used in Etherpad. This means, it can also be configured to use with level, redis, Cassandra or CouchDB. I will focus this tutorial for MongoDB integration, but same method can be used to make Etherpad work with other DataBase systems (Which are supported by UeberDB)…

Programmatically upload a file from SD Card to a remote server using Phonegap

PhoneGap is an HTML5 app platform that allows you to author native applications for Android, iPhone, WebOS, Symbian, Windows Phone or Blackberry with web technologies and get access to APIs and app stores. I have been working on phonegap for a while now. Although it is considered easy, its little bit tricky to get it work as expected. I found it difficult to get a solution to upload a file from SD Card to a remote server using phonegap. After little bit of googling and failed attempts, I decided to hack it myself and got it working.
